June Rookie Camps

Any swimmers wishing to join VPSC for summer or fall programming in 2021 are welcome to register for our Rookie Camps. These provide a chance for kids to meet the coaches and be assessed on their swimming ability so that we can see if they are a good fit for our club. 

Rookie Camps are conducted in small groups as 2 x 20 minute swim sessions for kids 10&U, and 1x20 minute session for kids 11&O. All of our procedures are COVID safe and approved by both our facilities and the Provincial Sport Organization (our governing body) Swim BC. 

Our assessment criteria is as follows:

• Minimum age to be assessed in 6 years old 
• Kids aged 8 & younger must be able to safely swim in deep water without an adult in the pool, know basic front crawl for 25m, and be able to kick with no arms for 25m (Minimum acceptable standard is approximately Swim Kids 4)
• Kids aged 9-10 must be able to swim front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke, as well as do a somersault and a dive (Approximately equivalent to Swim Kids 6)
• Kids aged 11 or older must be able to swim all four competitive strokes and have some racing experience (summer club, school swim team, etc)

In order to participate in Rookie Camps, parents must follow these steps:

1. Go to https://vpsc.poolq.net/login?returnUrl=%2F
2. Select CREATE ACCOUNT
3. Emergency Contact information & credit card is required 
4. Once you have created an account, SIGN IN, and select ADD MEMBER on your account page (this is where you put your child's information)
5. Visit the event page HERE, and then email coach Kennedy with your preferred date & time slot. These are available on a first come, first serve basis..

Please note that your registration is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email from Coach Kennedy 

Once this is complete, a $50 fee will be billed to your account - this fee must be paid in advance of the Rookie Camp's first session.
