VPSC Summer Camp
The Vancouver Pacific Swim Club (VPSC) is excited to announce our 2026 Summer Training Camps! Building on the success of our Spring Clinic, these weekly camps provide a structured environment for focused technical development, revamped dryland training, and interaction with guest performance coaches.
Program Highlights
- Weekly Technical Focus: Targeted development for specific strokes and skills each week.
- Performance Guest Coaches: A high-performance athlete will join as a guest coach each week to lead sessions.
- Revamped Dryland: Dryland sessions specifically designed to complement the in-water technical focus.
Program Levels
Weeks 1 – 3
Skill Development
- Designed to build a strong technical foundation across all four strokes, starts, and turns.
- Swimmers will focus on developing efficient movement patterns, improving stroke technique, and gaining a better understanding of the fundamentals of competitive swimming. Dryland sessions will support this by building general athletic ability and helping athletes understand how body position and movement on land translate into the water.
- Ideal for swimmers looking to develop consistency and efficiency in their skills.
Registration Requirements
- Age: 8 – 15 years old
- VPSC Members: YBD, Minis, and Fitness
- Non-VPSC Members:
- Able to swim at least 2x50m of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and base level of butterfly
- Comfortable swimming in deep water and diving off blocks
- Must be able to swim on their own
Safety Requirements
To ensure the safety of all participants and the quality of the training environment, swimmers must meet the minimum requirements on the first day of camp.
Important: Coaches will assess skills on Day 1. If an athlete is unable to meet the minimum requirements listed above, they will be withdrawn from the program for safety reasons.
Weeks 4 – 5
Performance Development
- Designed for swimmers who have already built a strong technical base and are looking to refine their performance.
- The focus shifts toward higher-level skill execution, race-specific technique, and precision in movement. Swimmers will work on refining details within their strokes, starts, turns, and underwaters. Dryland sessions will emphasize body awareness and coordination to directly improve how skills are executed in the water.
- Ideal for swimmers who have competed through the season and are looking for targeted technical work before the summer break.
